FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF EAST HAMPTON

Prayer Shawl Ministry

The Prayer Shawl Ministry at our church has been active for about a year.  Through August 2011 over 150 shawls have been given.  There are two knitting/crocheting groups meeting each week for fellowship and fun while creating lap robes/shawls for distribution by our Pastor and Deacons.

The blessing of the Prayer Shawl provides healing and comfort to the sick, the lonely and the elderly, or shares in the accomplishment of the graduate, newlywed, and newborn. Like all acts of generosity, the presentation of a Prayer Shawl enriches the giver as well as the recipient.

Please pray for this ministry.  Pray that God would use us to give comfort to those who receive a shawl.

If you would like to join a group please send an email to prayershawl@fpceh.org or call our church office 324-0711

Currently groups meet:
Monday @ 9am at Barbara Borsack's home

&
Tuesday @1pm at Mary Siska's home.

If
you can't make one of the group times you can still knit at home.  See Mary or Barbara for additional information or send an email.

NEWS:  The prayer shawl knitters have taken on a new challenge.  We will be knitting cotton caps for newborn babies.  In addition to the caps, the hospital is interested in hand knitted or crocheted blankets for the very sad times that present themselves when there is a stillbirth.  At those times the baby is presented to the mother in a handmade blanket for her to hold, which is helpful as part of the grieving process.  The blanket then becomes a keepsake for the mother to take home.  This is a very special ministry.
