Hilary Gardner and the Lonesome Pines Earth Day Concert to Benefit the Matthew Lester Pollinator Garden
Headed our way on April 26 for a concert celebrating Earth Day—and benefiting a very special place ... music to honor nature's beauty and welcome spring with songs about life on the trail.
Winning the 2025 Western Heritage Award for Outstanding Traditional Western Album as well as the International Western Music Association’s award for 2025 Western Album of the Year, On the Trail was in the top 10 of The Times of London’s 20 Best Jazz Albums of 2024. The album was also named Best New Vinyl Release of 2024 by Secrets of Home Theater and Hi Fidelity. Will Friedwald described the music in The Wall Street Journal as “a sound suggestive of the vast expanses of the open plains, a huge empty canvas that paints an internal picture—a surreal, extraplanetary prairie of the mind….something new and wondrous.”
Saddle up and wander, unworried and unhurried, under a vast western sky!
Tickets available for purchase online via paypal or at the door.
Book Club
The final book in the 2025 reading-discussion series is The Secret Life of Sunflowers by Marta Molnar, a gripping and inspiring novel based on the true story of Johanna Bonger, Vincent van Gogh's sister-in-law. It begins when Hollywood auctioneer Emsley Wilson finds her famous grandmother's diary while cleaning out her New York brownstone; the pages are full of surprises, but the greatest surprise is that the diary isn’t her grandmother’s, after all, but was written by Johanna as a 28-year-old widow with nothing to her name—except some paintings. . . .

This statement is used to introduce confirmands to the larger church as full-members. Book and Dagger: How Scholars and Librarians Became the Unlikely Spies of World War II, nonfiction by Elysse Graham, is the subject of the Book Club’s March discussion. It brings to life the previously untold tale of the academics who became OSS spies, invented modern spy-craft, and helped turn the tide of the war. The author takes readers all over the world to show how, as Nazis burned books, book lovers were defending the freedom of ideas.
