Scholarships

The First Church scholarship program exists to financially assist church members seeking to attend an accredited institution of higher learning. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of need, potential, and church participation.

First Presbyterian Church of East Hampton scholarship program is comprised of two primary funds:

Ginny & Vaughn Backlund

Ginny & Vaughn Backlund

Named for its contributor, Vaughn R. Backlund, a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of East Hampton, this scholarship recognizes students who have the grades and potential to benefit from further education after completion of high school. The recipients need not have the highest grades in their graduating class, but must have acceptable grades which are high enough to reasonably assure their success, and they must be in financial need. The board of the Backlund Scholarship Fund shall determine annually the number of scholarships available. The board shall also determine annually the dollar amount of the scholarships awarded. Both the number and amount of awards may vary each year.
